actually, i think cloverway does a pretty good job of dubbing. they're markedly better than dic. they keep the original japanese surnames, and i think they do their best to preserve the original episodes within north american standards. one of my favourite episodes, Related By Destiny, is actually quite well-written. here are some quotes from it: www.angelfire.com/anime3/senshi0/rel_destiny.html

Cloverway does do a good job, but I think the censorship cuts (though not as extreme as DIC's) do take away from the show. I mean, in the SMS episode, where Sailor Uranus detransforms naturally, was cut out. This is the only time EVER (as far as I know) that a senshi detransforms, and they cut it out! Granted, there are some body lines, but they could just airbrush it like they do with the senshi transformations. Anyway, I'm still grateful that Cloverway is doing a good job and bringing SM to us!

Yes, I agree. Actually, I didn't really start watching SM until the third season of the dub. I've only seen bits and pieces of the first two seasons. So the only two seasons I'm really familiar with are the S and SuperS (SuperS being my favorite ;D ). I like the dub, and was used to the voices until I first got my hands on the Japanese, and from there I didn't want to go back to dub, but I still wouldn't mind going back to dub when the Japanese isn't available to me. Overall, I think the dub is still pretty good. ;D

yeah, Cloverway had to work with what DiC left off, so it's not their fault some of the things dic did were already set in place. they had to be consistent, so it wouldn't make sense to change dub names all of a sudden. i think if they had their way in the beginning, they would have had good dub names, since they kept the outers' surnames, and hotaru's name. notice how they kept the original attack names where they could. for the outers, when uranus and neptune came, cloverway first made their attacks "uranus world shaking" and "neptune deep submerge" to make it consistent with the dic style, and thus made it intelligible to dubbies as attack names. but they then dropped the planet prefixes to keep it closer the the original attacks, so that it would be a smooth transition.
