Summary of some post
Primary Skills(or Production skills):
There are six types of work skills in the game. You can learn any of the six skills when you start the game from any of the shop keepers who teaches the related skill. Upon learning the work skill from any of the shop keeper, you will be provided with a basic tool for free. These cannot be unlearned and do not take a skill slot like the Manufacturing Skills.
Woodcutting: Learned from the Carpenter in either Gion or Greenville: Guild located in Bluebird Carpenter Shop

Secondary Skills (or Manufacturing Skills):
The manufacture work department needs to have the raw materials and also must be able to carry on the work in some specific places. Also, you must provide some goods to give to the shop keepers n order to learn the skills. You can learn 3 jobs with 0~2500 fame, 4 jobs 2501~5000 fame, 5 jobs 5001-15,000 fame, and 6 with over 15,001 fame. All you can have are 6 of these skills total. These are the skills that can be unlearned. You must go to the guild of that skill to unlearn them.

GUILD TITLES
You can join the guild for any skill. But you can only be in one guild at a time. Being in the guild increases your chance for success in using a work skill. You can leave the guild by talking to the person you talked to to join it. You must pay to advance your guild title but it does increase your success rate as well. It may not be as noticable, but try with two different characters and you will see.
[opinion]it is my opinion that being in the Mining Guild does not effect the amount of gem ores you find. I have two characters on two different accounts both with mining and similar stats. Only one is in the guild and the other isn't. The one in the guild finds about half the gem ores as the one not in the guild. Some have had success with finding more gem ores with the guild. But until I see indisputable proof, I will continue to be under the impression that the Mining Guild has no effect on gem ores[/opinion]
